Worlds collide in Tucson Tales #8. On Saturday, November 22, the 42nd annual El Tour De Tucson bicycling event was held. An estimated 11,000 riders took part in the event along with one unregistered participant: around 9:12am near the intersection of Colossal Cave Road & Camino Loma Alta, a javelina jumped out from the brush and ran into the road, colliding with one of the cyclists and knocking him off his bike. There were no injuries reported, the cyclist continued the race after turning down a medical evaluation, and a spectator said the javelina kept running across the road and didn’t seem to be affected at all.
