The 7th installment of my Tucson Tales series. On August 16th 2025, two streetcars crashed into each other downtown at the intersection of 4th Ave and 8th Street, right in front of The Hut’s giant tiki head. The crash derailed both cars and was reportedly caused by a northbound operator error, failing to confirm a rail switch at the same moment a southbound car was passing. 4 people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. In 11 years of the streetcar operating, this is the first time two have collided together.
